Maximum and minimum dry bulb temperatures for outside air to be used for free cooling. Should match the data center's specification of dry bulb temperature for air entering the IT equipment. A maximum temperature must be entered. The minimum can be a numeric value or "NONE" to account for mixing of return and supply air. Used for air-side economizer calculation only.
DEWPOINT TEMP THRESHOLD (DEG):
Maximum and minimum dew point temperatures for outside air to be used for free cooling. Should match the data center's specification of dew point temperature for air entering the IT equipment. A maximum temperature must be entered. The minimum can be a numeric value or "NONE" to account for humidification of outside air. Used for air-side economizer calculation only.
REL. HUMIDITY THRESHOLD (%):
Maximum relative humidity for outside air to be used for free cooling. Should match the data center's specification of maximum relative humidity for air entering the IT equipment. This can be a numeric value or "NONE" to account for humidification or dehumidification of outside air before use in the data center. Used for air-side economizer calculation only.
DESIRED CHILLED WATER TEMP (DEG):
The desired chilled water supply temperature for the data center. Used for water-side economizer calculation only.
COOLING SYSTEM APPROACH TEMP (DEG):
This is how close the water temperature in the cooling system can be lowered toward the wet bulb temperature. Used for water-side economizer calculation only.
DATA CENTER IT POWER (kW):
Amount of power required for IT equipment on the data center floor.
POWER USAGE EFFECTIVENESS (PUE):
The efficiency of the data center, as defined by The Green Grid (http://thegreengrid.org), the ratio of total facility power divided by IT power.
TOTAL FACILITY POWER (kW):
The total amount of power required from the utility feed for the whole facility, including IT power, electrical and mechanical systems, and ancillary loads (lighting, pumps, offices, etc)
OVERHEAD POWER (kW):
The power required for the cooling and electrical systems, sometimes referred to as MEP above the IT load, calculated as (TOTAL FACILITY POWER) - (DATA CENTER IT POWER)
PERCENT OF OVERHEAD POWER FOR COOLING SYSTEM(%):
The percent of OVERHEAD POWER required to run all the elements of the cooling system (eg, cooling tower, pumps, fans, CRACs, CRAHs, chiller, etc)

The percent of the OVERHEAD POWER FOR COOLING SYSTEM specifically required to run the chiller

Calculated result, the remainder of OVERHEAD POWER FOR COOLING SYSTEM after power for the chiller and cooling tower have been subtracted.
PERCENT OF OVERHEAD POWER FOR ELECTRICAL LOSSES and LIGHTING (%):
The amount of power consumed by the electrical distribution system (UPS, PDUs, transformers, transfer switches, etc) and lighting in the data center. Currently fixed at 20% of OVERHEAD POWER.
ELECTRIC COST ( per kWh):
The cost of electricity to be used for the savings calculations, in the unit of any currency per kilowatt-hour. Any value can be put in this box, and that values will be treated as the cost per kWh. Any symbol (eg, $, , , etc) or 3-character string (eg, USD, EUR, YEN, etc) can be entered in the 1st box, and that character or string will be repeated to the results section.
